The Spellman Museum provides a variety of services to assist collectors as
well as members of the general public who have questions about stamps and postal history. Services, fees, and a contact number follow.
The Spellman Museum Library is the major philatelic library in New England and one of a handful of significant philatelic libraries in the United States. Its collection includes items from the collection of Francis Cardinal Spellman, the National Philatelic Museum, Boston University philatelic library collection, and the H.E. Harris Company. The Library is open to all during the museum's public hours. Museum admission fees apply. To schedule an appointment during non-public hours or for questions concerning library holdings, call (781) 768-7339, or email the museum at
info@spellman.org or via our web contact form.
Philatelic material not on exhibit may be made available for viewing, contingent upon the condition and accessibility of the collection. A fee is charged, and there is a discount for members. For further information and to schedule an appointment, call
(781) 768-7331, or email the museum at
info@spellman.org or via our web contact form.
Private consultations with the museum's senior philatelic advisors provide information on the quality, condition, and rarity of a private collection. Collection evaluations, generally lasting up to one hour, are not appraisals but are designed to assist people who are uncertain about how to proceed with the disposal of a collection. A fee of $30 is charged. For further information and to schedule an evaluation, call (781) 768-7331, or email the museum
at info@spellman.org or via our web contact form.
Increasing public awareness of the Spellman Museum's programs and its collections is central to the organization's mission. As part
of this effort the museum makes its facilities available for private functions on a limited basis to enable individuals and organizations
to experience the museum's exhibitions and distinguished collections firsthand outside of public hours. Individual rooms may be rented
for meetings as well as access to the entire facility for special events. Catering services are available. Rates vary based upon the
space and time of the week requested. For information, call (781) 768-7331, or email the museum at
info@spellman.org or via our web contact form.
Whether from the Museum Store, Post Office, or Library, the Spellman Museum is happy to process special orders over the phone. The shipping
and handling charges for Museum Store items or photocopies are $4.50, or the actual cost of postage plus $3.50, which ever is greater.
